Income exactly at a band boundary is taxed in the lower band — for example, Rs 1,200,000 uses the 1% rate, not 11%. Tax rises smoothly: one rupee above a boundary adds only the new band's rate on that rupee.
Formula: tax = base tax at the lower bound of your band + marginal rate × (annual taxable income − lower bound of the band).
For example, a monthly taxable income of Rs 200,000 (annual Rs 2,400,000) gives annual tax of Rs 156,000, monthly tax of Rs 13,000, an effective rate of 6.50%, a marginal rate of 20.00%, and monthly take-home pay of Rs 187,000. This example uses fixed example inputs; enter your own income above to calculate your tax.
